In January 2015 SSR embarked on a major project to construct a 650m2 display shed to enable some of our rolling stock to be displayed in a purpose built facility. Earthworks commenced in January and the foundations were laid in February and over the winter months the site was tidied and the earthworks for the track approaches were completed.
The shed construction got underway in October with completion of the building shell scheduled for November with the first items of rolling stock being moved in shortly after. In time this will become a great asset for the railway enabling more of our valuable historic rolling stock to be stored under cover.
