We were hoping this week to make a couple of posts, one informing you about the Environment Court Case about the Silvestream Spur Reserve, the other of course advertising our scheduled operating day on the 4th of May. However that literally came crashing down on Saturday when we discovered one of Upper Hutt City Council’s pine trees has paid us a visit and is now blocking our track (hopefully not damaging it in the process). The wayward tree also has a couple of mates that want to make our railway their new home, which we are not terribly keen on.
So disappointingly and reluctantly we have had to make the decision to close on the 4th of May while we work to get this cleaned up and make the area safe. Our attempts to engage with UHCC on this issue over the last few years have not been productive, leaving us having to loose vital income that helps keep the railway going while we clean up the fallout.
We will keep you updated as to when we will be back in action.
In the mean time you can keep the donations coming in for our Silverstream Spur Convervation Fund, we are almost at the $10,000 mark so really appreciate the suport shown to protect and enhance this important Upper Hutt amenity https://silverstream-spur-conservation-fund.raiselysite.com/
