Heritage Train Rides Sunday 21st February

Silver Stream Railway will be open this Sunday the 21st of February from 11am till 4pm.

This week our diesel electric locomotive De505 built in 1952 will be hauling the train of two old style wooden carriages and the guards van with open viewing platform. This loco has been laid up for a few months having some repairs but is once again ready for service. We are hopeful that with the recent and forecast rain we will be back to steam in time for our Children's Day Special on the 6th of March. Please see our events page for more details. Trains depart from the station in Reynolds Bach Drive (just off Eastern Hutt Road) Upper Hutt on demand for a 3km return journey over part of the old Wellington to Upper Hutt railway line bypassed in 1954. Gates open at 11am with the last train leaving at approx. 3:45pm. Bring a picnic and enjoy as many rides as you like for the price of an admission ticket.
