OPEN DAY: 150 years of Railways in NZ - 1st December 2013

2013 marks 150 years of Railways in New Zealand. Silver Stream Railway plans to mark this special occasion with our own event on Sunday 1st December 2013


Help us celebrate 150 years of New Zealand Railways.

Up to 4 different steam locos will be running on the day.
Diesel Electric and Railcar rides at times during the day.
Sausage sizzle.
Other steam locomotives and vintage rolling stock on display.

Two separate trains will be running continuously throughout the day. Rides take approx. 15 minutes return and your entry ticket entitles you to as many rides as you like on either train. Trains run over a restored section of the former Wellington to Upper Hutt line that was by passed in the early 1950s.

Parking is available opposite the entrance to Silverstream Retreat.

Gates open at 10am and the last train leaves at approx. 3:45pm.

Entry prices which include as many rides on all of the trains are Adult $12 Child (5-15) $6 and Family (2 adults and 2 children) $29. All proceeds go directly back into development and maintenance at Silver Stream Railway.
