50 years of Preservation

February 2018 marks 50 years of active preservation by Silver Stream Railway. Ka935 was the first locomotive purchased back in 1968 with it passing into the possession of the Wellington Branch of the New Zealand Railway and Locomotive Society on the 2nd of February that year.

Children's Day Special

To help celebrate national Children's Day, on Sunday the 5th of March, Silver Stream Railway will be offering free entry for all children under 15 when accompanied by a fare paying adult from 11am till 4pm.

Operating Days 2018

Our operating days for 2018 are as follows

January 7th and 21st, 22nd (Wellington Anniversary Weekend)
February 4th and 18th We will not be open on Waitangi Day. 
March 4th (Children’s Day Special) and 18th
April 1st, 2nd (Easter Weekend) and 15th
May 6th and 20th
June 3rd, 4th (Queens Birthday Weekend)
