Silver Stream Railway is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the opening of the railway to Silverstream with a special event on the 14th of December. To help us celebrate this important occasion, we will have a visiting steam locomotive of a type not seen over our stretch of railway for over 100 years, and the first visiting steam locomotive to SSR in 30 years. Join us for this special occasion with regular rides behind the visiting locomotive departing every 25 minutes from McKirdy Station (named after the contractor that constructed the line 150 years ago) in Reynolds Bach Drive, just off Eastern Hutt Road. We open at 11am with trains running untill 4pm.
